‘You’ve got three children who all disappeared. All from the same street? What could have happened?’ Dan Box is the crime reporter behind Bowraville, and through its five moody, carefully unfurled episodes, he investigates a series of murders that took place in the early 1990s in coastal New South Wales.
As the first major true crime podcast to widely captivate Australian listeners, and based around a case with an ambiguous outcome (nobody has yet been convicted for the murders), Bowraville has fielded comparisons to Serial. (It’s simply uncanny that in each, a key figure shares the same name.) And, like with Serial, the attention it’s drawn to the case has prompted renewed judicial interest.
And we won’t spoil it by telling you more. The podcast is produced by Eric George, and published by the Australian newspaper.
