RN’s Off Track is like an audio nature walk. Ann Jones leads us through the great outdoors, listening to ‘the environment discussed by the people who live in and love it’.
The show blends field recordings and interviews into sound-rich documentaries. You can almost hear the producers’ microphones getting dirty as they trek to far-flung corners of Australia and the globe to explore (literally and figuratively) the natural world, creating a remarkable sense of place as they go.
Each hour-long episode takes the listener somewhere new, and teaches us the intricacy, beauty and sometimes harsh realities of the environment and its inhabitants. (If you need to segment your reverie, though, take advantage of the separate stories podcast instead.)
