By Association is a podcast about football – not wonky ball Australian Rules football, but the round balled kind played the world over. It doesn’t sound like your ordinary sports podcast, though; By Association is much more sedate, delving into stories around and beyond the game – often backed by gentle music that draws out the poise and poetry of the sport.

By Association is produced and presented by James Parkinson for apparel designers 3nil FC, and it’s honestly a good fit; both engender a kind of hushed, boutique fandom, basically the opposite of football hooliganism.

Episodes are released monthly and feature ‘interesting and insightful short stories about the world game – from personal narratives to club histories, and everything in between’.
