The Outer Sanctum is a place for stories about Australian Rules football – told by an all-female team of passionate footy fans not often found in sports media. The idea for the show first emerged amidst rising calls for more diversity in the sport, and features conversations between Emma Race, Kate Seear, Nicole Hayes, Alicia Sometimes, Lucy Race and Felicity Race.
In each episode, the team share their observations on football, and invite guests whom they believe can bring something new to the conversation around AFL. And, in mid-2016, the podcast made headlines – when it exposed a controversial comment by AFL club presidents that triggered a major media furore. Who said podcasts aren’t influential?
