Radio National Fictions is the ABC’s latest home for creative audio fiction.

This podcast opens up a space outside of documentary and journalistic approaches to storytelling, and invites listeners into fictional worlds shaped by some of Australia’s best writers, playwrights and creatives.

Combining enchanting writing and rich sound design, Radio National Fictions takes us into the dark, gritty, hilarious and unexpected worlds of the Australian imagination. From a suburban backyard pool, to a mysterious slam-poet king – each story shares a unique insight into today’s Australia.

Presented by Fiona Pepper, Radio National Fictions features stand-alone episodes and short series produced by Sophie Townsend, Camilla Hannan and more. Episodes are around 25 minutes each and are released every week or so.

In the words of this podcast’s creators: ‘think of it as movies for your ears’.
