Connect, Learn, Share: Life in Australia is a peer-to-peer resource for newly arrived people to Australia. From language to culture, food to healthcare, education to transport, everything’s different in a new country – and often, folk knowledge is left off the official documentation.
Directed primarily at asylum seekers or people with a refugee background, each episode shares stories of young people that have been in the same situation – say, finding a home, going to school, staying healthy – and what tips, tricks and signposts helped them navigate through.
Available in English, Tamil and Farsi, Life in Australia is perhaps uniquely utilitarian in sound and format. You could think of it as podcasting-as-a-service; but it fills a much-needed gap in the current resources on offer, sharing the small everyday details of making a new place home.
