Masako Fukui is a writer and award winning radio documentary producer based in Sydney. She was previously a radio and print journalist in Tokyo and Sydney working for major Japanese, Australian and American news organisations.
Her radio work ‘From the Pearlers to the bankers: The History of Japanese-Australians‘ won the Gold Trophy at the 2015 New York Festivals World’s Best Radio Programs, History Documentary Section. Her documentary ‘Will Kate Survive Kate‘ won the Gold Trophy at the 2014 New York Festivals World’s Best Radio Programs, Human Interest Documentary section. It was also shortlisted for the Radio Creative Feature category at the AIB Awards 2014 (Association of International Broadcasting).
Masako’s articles, commentaries, essays and reviews have been published in a international print and online publications, including the Nihon Keizai Shimbun, Griffith Review and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s website.
