Kate Sherington grew up in the eastern suburbs of Brisbane. As a teenager, she was the junior division winner of the National Young Playwrights Award (2003) and finalist for Queensland in the Somerset National Novella Writing Competition (2003). In 2008 and 2009, Sherington was highly commended in the State Library’s Young Writers Award.
