Pill Pop takes its listeners on a road trip in an old ambulance – that’s ‘Ambu-Lance Armstrong’ – from Gumtree. Each episode features an interview with a new guest about their life with chronic illness, covering topics from medication, diagnosis to finding acceptance and community.

Peppered with banter, puns and hilarious sound effects, hosts and co-creators Izzie Austin and Silvi Vann-Wall bring a dark sense of humour to a serious investigation of bodies and living with disability. The series is playful and surprising in its audio representation of physical discomfort, giving a literal voice to pain.

Pill Pop was created after Austin and Vann-Wall took part in the Wheeler Centre’s Signal Boost programme and were mentored by Bec Fary. The show’s first season is being co-produced by Beth Atkinson-Quinton and Jon Tjhia at the Wheeler Centre.
