Peter Taggart was born on the glittering Gold Coast and raised in St George – a small farming township in southern Queensland. In a painfully ordinary childhood, he didn’t play with corn-husk dolls, nor did he ride around on his family’s billion-acre property on a shiny BMX. Instead, he sat inside on hot summer days, eating TeeVee snacks and watching Fast Forward and ’70s sitcoms.
At 17, after failing to score a spot with the QLD Reds due to his blatant unfamiliarity with the sport of Rugby Union, Peter arrived in Brisbane, Queensland and completed a Bachelor of Journalism at the Queensland University of Technology.
Peter has written for the Big Issue, Courier Mail, Guardian, Meanjin, ArtsHub and Filmme Fatales. He has hosted shows on 2SER/Star Observer Digital and 4ZzZ and has contributed to various programs on triple j and 612 ABC Brisbane. With Rebecca Shaw, he hosts the pop culture non-phenomenon podcast Bring A Plate. Press have called it ‘deceptively random’ and ‘infrequent‘.
