Lea Redfern

Lea Redfern has been making radio since the early 1990s when she was seduced by the intimacy, independence, and creative possibilities allowed by the medium.

After receiving first class honours in communications, at the University of Technology, Sydney, Redfern won a Cross-Media Production Traineeship at the ABC, in television, online, and in radio. Working in television strengthened her passion for radio, and Redfern has since produced for RN programs including Radio Eye, The Night Air, 360 Documentaries, and Earshot.

Her documentaries have been broadcast internationally and in 2003 she won the Australian Human Rights Award for Radio. In 2016 her piece Almost Flamboyant – a collaboration with writer Rijn Collins – won first place at the Sarah Awards for audio fiction.
